C-Nil
C-Nil is a thought provoking lyricist from the neon-light city of Seoul.
Formally part of the rap group ‘Sky-Fu’ with fellow artists CJ and Monkey King, C-Nil has tirelessly worked his way up from the underground to release Korean/Japanese bi-lingual songs that deal with joy and sorrow.
‘I changed my life 180 with hip-hop, and I’m going to continue to struggle and express whats genuine to me” says C-Nil.
Growing up in Seoul and eventually moving to Tokyo, C-Nil went through turbulent times, and had to find an escape from the gangs he was involved in. The unique way he discovered was his love of music and passion for writing lyrics. Taking this desire, C-Nil turned a new leaf and began his musical career.
Forming crews with fellow rappers along the way, C-Nil has released mix-tapes across Tokyo and Yokohama, and has performed at clubs in Shibuya, Meguro, Roppongi and Shinjuku. His rap delivery is intense, throwing rhyme after rhyme of metaphors and similes to map out his reality.
Having lived in Tokyo and Seoul, C-Nil raps in both Korean and Japanese, and wants to pioneer different rap styles and sounds to the current rap scene.
“I think hip-hop in Seoul should be more diverse with its sounds and expressions. It’s alright to put more melody into the raps or rhyme over different, not so hip-hop type of beats. Hip-Hop is about evolving ” he says.
C-Nil is currently working on his EP, as well as his mix tape and the 1OR8 FACTION EP.
